4-Point Inspection in Davie
The insurer's report on roof, electrical, plumbing and A/C, now reaching homes from the early 2000s.

Form OIR-B1-1802 · Rev. 04/26 · Davie, FL
A wind mitigation inspection in Davie, FL records the hurricane features your insurer can credit, on the current OIR-B1-1802 form. In a town where building ran through several code changes, your permit date can matter as much as your roof. The report usually reaches you the same day.
Wind mitigation in Davie
Subdivisions here went up on both sides of the big code changes, so neighbors can get different answers on the same form. These are the spots where that shows up.
A town with rural roots that grew in layers: horse properties and acreage lots, planned subdivisions from the 1980s on, condos and townhomes near the campuses and golf courses, and a long list of mobile home parks.
Building in these neighborhoods began around the mid-1980s, and Shenandoah ran to about 2000. Item 1's SFBC-94 option exists only in the HVHZ, and a home built in 1994, 1995 or 1996 needs a permit application after September 1, 1994. One street can land on both sides.
Homes there went up from the late 1990s into the 2000s, with many around 2002. That puts the FBC 2001 and 2004 option in play, but a house built in 2002 or 2003 needs a permit application after March 1, 2002. The permit decides, not the move-in year.
We complete the form for the home you are insuring. Straps or impact doors on a detached barn or guest cottage will not change the answers for the main house. If those buildings are insured too, ask your agent how the carrier treats them.

FBC 2007 or later, FBC 2001 and 2004, or SFBC-94 for the HVHZ. Homes built here from 1994 onward often need the permit date to settle it.
Permit date decidesDavie is in Broward, so the answer is HVHZ at every address, from the campuses to the western acreage. There is no wind speed to look up.
HVHZWe measure whether at least two-thirds of the main roof area is 6:12 or steeper. Low-slope porches and additions on ranch-style homes are worth measuring.

Why it matters here
Section 627.0629, Florida Statutes, requires insurers to offer credits for construction features that reduce windstorm damage. The catch is paperwork. Straps in your attic do nothing for your policy until they appear on a signed form with a photo, and your carrier decides what each feature is worth. An inland address does not change the code picture, since every home here is in the HVHZ.
The visit usually takes less than an hour on a typical home, and longer on a large custom house. Peter goes through the attic, roof and openings and backs each attribute in items 2 to 9 with a photo or document. Inspections on or after April 1, 2026 must use Rev. 04/26, which is valid up to five years if no material changes are made to the structure and no inaccuracies are found.
Documented hip roofs, connectors and impact openings can lower the windstorm portion. Amounts vary by home and carrier.
One report can serve renewals and new policies, unless the structure changes or an inaccuracy turns up.
Have it done during your inspection period, so the quote you compare reflects this house instead of a guess.
Improvements earn nothing until they reach the form. Order a new report after the work, with permits in hand.
Your report, explained
Nine items, and each attribute in items 2 through 9 needs a photo or document. Your carrier applies the credits from there. Our guide to the report goes deeper.
Simple from start to finish
Find roof and window permits if you have them, and tell us the year built. Then choose a time.
Peter photographs the framing, the covering and each window and door, and he measures the slope.
The finished report, with its photos, usually comes to you the day of the visit.
Your insurance agent sends it to the carrier, which decides the credits you receive.

Yes. The Florida Building Code applies the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone to Miami-Dade and Broward counties, and that includes inland towns. So every Davie home answers HVHZ on the Region item, and no separate wind speed is needed for it.
It depends on the permit. For a home built in 1994, 1995 or 1996, the SFBC-94 option needs a permit application after September 1, 1994. A house from earlier in the decade will not reach a code option, but other features can still earn credits.
Start with your closing papers. If they are missing, the Town of Davie Building Division on SW 36th Street handles permit records, and the Town's online system lets you search by permit number or address.
We cannot give a number, because each carrier sets its own credits. A hip roof, roof-to-wall connectors, a sealed deck and protected openings can each reduce the windstorm part of a premium. Your agent can run the figures from the report.
Any inspection on or after April 1, 2026 must use Rev. 04/26. Citizens says it accepts the January 2012 form if it was completed within five years before that date and nothing structural has changed. Other carriers may differ, so check with your agent.
Ask your agent how your carrier handles detached structures. We complete the form for the home being insured, and features on a separate building do not change the answers for the main house.
Wind mitigation records features that can lower your premium. A 4-point inspection tells an underwriter the condition of your roof, electrical, plumbing and A/C. Many Davie homes past 20 years need both, and both fit in one visit.
